Worcester returned home from their three-game road trip to Shenzhen China where they faced the Shenzhen KRS Vanke Rays. They went 0-3 on the trip and are looking to bounce back against an Olympian-filled Montreal team.
The Blades will face Les Canadiennes de Montreal on Saturday, November 17 at 3:30 p.m. at the DCU Center as part of a Blades/Railers double header. Fans can purchase a ticket for the Blades and stick around for the Railers game with the same ticket purchase. More information regarding tickets to both games can be found here.
Game 2’s puck drop happens at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Blades will be back on their home rink, Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center.
Tied with Calgary for second in the league, Montreal has ten points. Their most recent match up was vs. the Toronto Furies. Here, they swept the series by final scores of 1-0 and 7-0.
Montreal has a plethora of medal winning Olympians on their roster including Marie-Philip Poulin, Mélodie Daoust, Lauriane Rougeau, Jillian Saulnier, Geneviève Lacasse, Sarah Lefort, Erin Ambrose, and Emerance Maschmeyer, making this set of games a great opportunity for fans to see these athletes in person.
Montreal Player to Watch
Hilary Knight (Forward)
Knight is yet another gold medal winning Olympic athlete on their team. She returns fresh off a Team USA winning appearance in the recent Four Nations Cup Championship to go along with her already outstanding international achievements. The former Blade returned to the CWHL last season after the Olympics and currently has 5 points in 6 games played.
Worcester Player to Watch
Taryn Harris (Defense)
A 2017 draft pick, Harris is in her second season with the Blades. Despite the 0-3 record for the team in China, Harris earned an assist in a hard fought game 2. She has showed impressive defensive work throughout the season, becoming a pillar to Worcester’s back end.
