Weekend Preview: Ending 2018 in Markham

The Worcester Blades are wrapping up a December of road trips this weekend as they head out to Markham to take on the defending Clarkson Cup Champion Thunder. Both games will be played at the Thornhill Community Centre.

Recent Games

The Blades faced the Furies last weekend where they dropped both game by scores of 5-1 and 4-2. They are now 0-15 on the season.

Markham faced first-place Calgary last weekend where they also lost both of their games by scores of 3-1 and 7-2. The Thunder sit in third place with a 7-6-2 record.

The Match Up

Worcester and Markham faced off on October 13 and 14, the first games of the 2018-19 season. The Thunder won both games by scores of 6-0 and 4-1.

Casey Stathopoulus scored her first of the season in game two vs. Markham with Megan Myers and Kristina Brown tallying assists. Jessica Convery, Lauren Dahm, and Mariah Fujimagari all made appearances in goal during that weekend, saving 88 shots of the 98 faced collectively.

Victoria Bach – Forward

Bach is second on her team in points with 11. She is in her first season with the Thunder, along with her 2 assists she has 9 goals on the season, one of which was scored last weekend vs. the Inferno.

Worcester Player to Watch

Morgan Turner – Forward

Turner scored her first two goals of the season as well as her professional career vs. Toronto last weekend. She is now tied with Demi Crossman, who also tallied her first goal of her career last week, in points for Worcester with 4.
