Weekend Preview: Ending the Season in Toronto

The Worcester Blades are heading into their final two games of the season, facing the Toronto Furies. Worcester is sitting at 0-25 on the year, looking to prevent the first winless season in CWHL history.

Recent Games

The Blades faced Les Canadiennes de Montreal last weekend where they fell in both games by scores of 7-1 and 4-3.

Sunday’s game brought a hard fight, as the Blades lead by two for more than half of the game with goals from Megan Myers and Kaitlin Spurling. Montreal scored three goals in the final minutes of the second period and held on to the lead.

Toronto faced the Thunder last weekend and won both games by scores of 3-2 (SO) and 3-1. They sit in fifth place at 11-14 with 22 points.

The Match Up

Worcester and Toronto have faced off four times this season. The
Furies won three of the four games by one or two goals with one 5-1 win.

Casey Stathopoulos, Morgan Turner (2), and Demi Crossman all have goals vs. Toronto this season.

Carolyne Prevost – Forward

Prevost tallied two goals and an assist last weekend vs. Markham. She is third on her team in points with nine (four goals, five assists).

Worcester Player to Watch

Kaitlin Spurling – Forward

Spurling also tallied three points vs. Montreal in her last two games, with one goal coming off an assist from Meaghan Spurling. She is in her second CWHL season and has five points for third best on the team.
